Edit
Earth-Link Zero is a collaborative internet project using the 3D animation software known as Animation: Master. It is to be a science fiction movie set 2,000 years in the future, revolving around a character known as Zero and his conflicts between the warrior race known as the Skregg as well as himself.
Creation
Edit
Earth-Link Zero was created in August of 2008 by Chris Kroznuski. The franchise, originally a series of 20 episodes, is to be released as a 120 minute movie. Chris Cameron is currently writing the script, and a mini-series entitled Earth-Link Chronicles, currently being written by Chris Kroznuski and Ian Wiese, is to lead up to the movie.
History
Edit
Earth-Link Zero was originally inspired by mainly Star Trek and Star Wars, and was intended to be a sort of fan/homage to the two franchises. The show had a rough and slow start, with nobody working with Kroznuski and very little direction in the way things were being run. Some test footage was created using 3DS Max, but a script was never finalized or any designs created. Focusing on other projects, ELZ was slowly picked at over the course of 10 months, with a teaser using music from Star Trek Nemesis. Slowly however, interest began to accumulate in the project, and Chris Cameron joined on in May of 2009. Declaring the role of Producer, Chris began to look into other venues of communication on the web to gain interest and popularity, while offering services in several other departments such as 3D Modeling. Even though Chris Cameron joined the project, there was a massive void and lack of work or direction until about early fall of 2009, when the Producer seriously looked at sites such as Hash.com and Sci-Fi Meshes.com. Chris Cameron enlisted the aid of his brother to work on concept designs for the series. By the time of December 2009, the pilot script had gone through three re-writes and was finalized, and voice actors were casted and the script was recorded on December 3rd, 2009.
Once voice acting had completed, work on ELZ began far more seriously. A test animatic of the opening titles was created and then was re-made from scratch using Animation: Master. Once released on the web, interest sparked from simply three people, to a whole forum community. The release of this footage gained the talents of Al Dinelt, Eric Camden and Ken Citron, who has to date assisted in modeling some of the key mechanical items seen in the series. Beyond the role of Producer, Chris Cameron also designed the characters with approval and advice from Chris Kroznuski and is in the stage of modeling and animating. The first scene of Episode 1, Destiny and Reason was under production, and featured the character of Aiden running from some enemies. The episode was to be released in four acts, with Act 1 scheduled to be released by the end of February. In March 2010, in a meeting with Chris Kroznuski and Chris Cameron, the move was made to turn the planned 20-episode series into a 120-minute movie, with a possible release date set for 2012.
The project has since been put on hold, due to little resources and time. "I remain optimistic that we'll get it done someday though," Kroznuski says.
